The Cascabel chile is one of the main varieties in Mexican cuisine. It has a size similar to a cherry, is round, directly spicy and when mature gets intense dark reddish tones. This variety are used dry, because that is when they get their characteristic aroma. The name "cascabel" is due to the sound their seeds make inside the fruit when dry.Depending on the area of the country, also is called Chile Chilcoztli, Chile Horn, Chile naughty, Puya, or Pullia.
